WORKS ON PAPER: DISPLACEMENT SERIES

Each of these larger scale graphite and mixed media drawings on translucent duralar and paper surfaces consists of at least two individual drawing layers. Often they are held together with a minute stitching of glass beads or wire, themselves important elements in the drawing.

The imagery is based on observed natural phenomena and how recent environmental shifts define or alter our desire for beauty and taste for drama. Within the vast macro scale of the fading landscapes, the micro view of its inhabitants become strangely displaced in my work, yet I aim to bring a poetic and meditative tone to the narratives.

When natural balances shift, my vision blurs and drawings are made.
